Science Research in Bangladesh
After the liberation in 1971, Bangladesh concentrated to rebuild the national education system. They give the priority in science and technology. A plethora of polytechnical and engineering institute has been established throughout the country. Polytechnicals are established due to hand in experience in technical job. On the other hand science and technology universities are established for the sake of higher study and research.
To help the industries, it adopted the Pakistan council of scientific and industrial research as Bangladesh council of scientific and industrial research. International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research Bangladesh (ICDDRB) also conducting research to find out the solution of different kind of diseases. Oral slain in the invention of ICDDRB for the diarrhoeal diseases.
Recently the private sector is also contributing to the research. The pharmaceutical companies are developing the research and development wings. Biotec pharmaceuticals developed an RNA based corona vaccine which is now under clinical trial.
Based on scientific article publication Bangladesh secured it’s third position in Asia, just lags far from India and Pakistan. Last year Bangladesh published over 6000 scientific articles in different scientific journals which was bellow 500 in two decades back. In 2018 that was over 5000. Significantly, it’s improving the research potential day by day. According to the world bank data there is a sharp increase of scientific article trend from 2002.
